2011 is the International Year of Forests, and local ecologist Dr. Georgia Silvera Seamans is celebrating with Festival of the Trees #65 (her second Festival this year).  Here is your opportunity to join the conversations at Georgia’s blog and investigate intersections of urban life and wildlife.

We invite you to take a closer look at your sidewalk this October, then send us the tree report. Show us spring fruit blossoms, sugar maple autumn leaves, tenacious rock-crunching roots, and shady canopied streets nestled in the oldest parts of your city. Show us which trees signal weather where you live, or get away from the city and show us what the local forests are up to.

We hope you’ll also share any juicy tree goodies you find online in your travels. Just send us the permalink, and we’ll do the rest.

We love trees & you love trees & trees need volunteers: win-win-win!

Celebrate forests and host Festival of the Trees at your blog. To volunteer, please contact us and pick your month. You don’t have you be a nature nut or a science nerd (both are welcome), all you need is a blog on any topic and a desire to host conversations about trees.

Psssst – spread the good word with some tree blog bling.
