Submission deadline: Friday, October 29

The 53rd Festival of the Trees fast approaches — don’t miss your chance to take part. Write a tree-related blog post or put up a photo set or video, if you haven’t already, and send the direct link to Arati at Trees, Plants and more by midnight (your local time) on Friday. See the announcement post for details.

There are a number of nature blog carnivals now, and we urge you to participate in as many as you can — see our sidebar or the Nature Blog Network for links. But the Festival of the Trees remains unique in the extent to which it blends the more science-oriented posts with literary, artistic, and even spiritual evocations of trees and forests. Help us bridge the chasm between the sciences and the humanities this month, as every month, by sharing your own unique perspective on the plants with which we as primates have the oldest and deepest bonds.

About Dave Bonta

I'm the author of several books of poetry, including Ice Mountain: An Elegy, Breakdown: Banjo Poems, and Odes to Tools, but my real work is at my long-running literary blog Via Negativa, where I'm currently creating erasure poems from every entry of the Diary of Samuel Pepys. I'm also the editor and publisher of Moving Poems, a blog showcasing the best poetry videos on the web.
